DeWITT — Spencer Don Buchanan,

84, of DeWitt, passed away at Springhill Baptist Hospital surrounded by loved ones. He was born September 24, 1936, in DeWitt, Ark., to William and Frances Buchanan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ethel Buchanan; his son, James Robert Buchanan; three brothers, Billy, Archie, and Bobby Lynn Buchanan; and one sister, Mary Frances Black.

Spencer is survived by his brother James “Buck” C. Buchanan and a host of nieces and nephews.

He worked in an aluminum can factory in Chicago, Illinois, for 30 years and then decided to make his home back in DeWitt. He did various jobs around DeWitt, including working at Whitmore Fertilizer. He was an avid hunter and gardener. He loved working outside around his house and in his shop. He was a member of Hebron Missionary Baptist Church in Point DeLuce.

Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. May 10 at Essex Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 2:00 at DeWitt Cemetery.
