BEST BETS

7 p.m. on CBS

48th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards

After being banished to streaming platforms in recent years, the Daytime Emmys return to their longtime broadcast network home of CBS, with Sheryl Underwood as host. Among this year’s nominees, former “Jeopardy!” game show host Alex Trebek and talk show staple Larry King (“Larry King Now”) are both nominated posthumously for their final shows. Drew Barrymore earned a nod for her fledgling talk show, vying with “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” “Live With Kelly and Ryan” and NBC’s “Today With Hoda & Jenna.”

8 p.m. on PBS Great Performances

Superstar operatic tenor Jonas Kaufmann is guest soloist for “Vienna Philharmonic Summer Night Concert 2020,” taped outdoors in Vienna’s magnificent Schonbrunn Palace Gardens in September under the baton of Valery Gergiev, who conducted this annual event in 2007, 2011 and 2018. It’s Kaufmann’s first time with this concert, however, although he has performed often with the Vienna Philharmonic on other occasions. The program includes works by Strauss, Wagner, Offenbach and Puccini, among other composers.

9 p.m. on FX The Choe Show

Is there such a thing as “radical empathy”? Celebrated artist and star David Choe thinks there is, as he demonstrates by turning his quirky, compassionate yet sometimes disruptive worldview into a lens for the audience to experience a kinship with others around them. From inside his childhood home, Choe takes guests on a journey during which he becomes a motivational interviewer and a compassionate listener. Both he and his guests have a shared emotional experience by using art and play as tools to connect. Three other episodes follow the premiere.
