2020 Ryder Cup

Golf’s premier match-play tournament tees off today at Whistling Straits in Wisconsin, as Steve Stricker captains the U.S. team against Pádraig Harrington’s Team Europe in the year-delayed 2020 Ryder Cup. The Europeans hold a 11-8 advantage over the Americans in Ryder Cup play, including their victory at Le Golf National in France in 2018.

Movie: Creed II

The eighth entry in the “Rocky” film series, director Steven Cagle Jr.’s 2018 sequel to 2015’s “Creed” finds Michael B. Jordan returning to his role as Adonis Creed. The rising young boxer encounters a powerful adversary in the ring: Viktor Drago (Florian “Big Nasty” Munteanu), the son of Russian champion Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren), who killed Apollo Creed, Adonis’ father, during a match. Sylvester Stallone also returns to his Oscar-nominated role as Rocky Balboa; Tessa Thompson, Phylicia Rashad and Wood Harris also star.

Movie: The War With Grandpa

Tim Hill’s 2020 adaptation of a novel by Robert Kimmel Smith stars Robert De Niro as Ed Marino, a recent widower whose daughter Sally (Uma Thurman) persuades to move in with her family. When Ed reluctantly agrees to do so, he is given his grandson Peter’s (Oakes Fegley) room, which forces Peter to move into the attic. Unhappy with this development, Peter embarks on a prank war he hopes will prompt his grandpa to leave. Rob Riggle, Cheech Marin, Jane Seymour and Christopher Walken also star.

Dynasty

Fallon, Sam and Kirby’s (Elizabeth Gillies, Rafael de la Fuente, Maddison Brown) road trip to Los Angeles inspires a series of terrible ideas in “You Vicious, Miserable Liar,” the first of two new back-toback episodes. Elsewhere, Culhane (Robert C. Riley) is surprised by the outcome when he tries to fix Blake’s (Grant Show) current mess. Then, in “Affairs of State and Affairs of the Heart,” Alexis (Elaine Hendrix) confronts Dominique (Michael Michele) about her secret and proposes a deal, while Adam (Sam Underwood) calls in a favor from Sam.

Movie: The Fugitive Kind

Sidney Lumet’s 1960 film adaptation of Tennessee Williams’ stage drama “Orpheus Descending” stars Marlon Brando in a memorable turn as Valentine “Snakeskin” Xavier, a guitar-playing drifter who flees New Orleans to a small town, hoping to escape a looming jail term. Resolving to give up his party-boy lifestyle, he finds work in a local mercantile store run by an embittered older woman known as Lady Torrance (Anna Magnani). He also catches the eye of local ladies Carol Cutrere and Vee Talbot (Joanne Woodward, Maureen Stapleton).

Movie: The Secret Lives of College

Freshmen

College freshmen Hannah and Jodie can’t believe their luck when they snag what looks to be the perfect dorm accommodations on their campus. It’s only after moving in that the girls discover the previous occupant, Amy, died under suspicious circumstances. Hannah drifts into an affair with a handsome professor, who previously was linked to Amy, and after finding the victim’s journal, Hannah becomes convinced Amy was murdered. She just dreads the thought of who the killer might be. Sarah Grey, Oliver Rice, Kendall Cross, Abby Ross and Raylene Harewood star.

These Woods Are Haunted

A young man gets more than he bargained for when he asks a mysterious woman out on a date in Louisiana in a new episode called — spoiler alert! — “I’m Looking at a Werewolf and It Was Trying to Kill Me.” In another segment, a couple’s California dreams turn into an utter nightmare after they stumble across what appears to be a satanic ritual site in the mountains.

Movie: I, Robot

If you’re looking for a faithful adaptation of Isaac Asimov’s short-story series, this is not it. If you’re looking for an action-packed thriller with a likable hero, this 2004 offering won’t disappoint. Set in 2035 Chicago, where people and robots coexist, it stars Will Smith as a homicide detective who defies authority to pin a murder on Sonny, a super-intelligent robot voiced by Alan Tudyk (“Resident Alien”). Bruce Greenwood, Chi McBride and Bridget Moynahan also star.

The Alaska Triangle

A Sasquatch colony terrorizes the residents of the remote Prince of Wales Island in the panhandle of Alaska in the new episode “Bigfoot Island and Aliens of Kodiak.” Another segment examines how decades of UFO sightings on Kodiak Island have led many to believe that aliens are working with the U.S. military in that region.
