BRYANT — Carolyn Bulloch,

of Bryant, passed away quietly in her sleep on Monday, Jan. 17. She was 88. Carolyn was born and raised in Little Rock, where she graduated from the Arkansas School for the Deaf. It was there that she met fellow student Victor Bulloch, Jr., who she married June 9, 1951; the wedding followed an eventful senior year during which she was elected Homecoming Queen. Together they raised three children and became grandparents and great-grandparents.

As her children grew older, Carolyn launched a career with the Internal Revenue Service, where she worked for 20-plus years. After retiring, she became a substitute teacher at her alma mater, helping a new generation of deaf children.

She was a charter member of the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church Fellowship for the Deaf and served for many years as the group’s treasurer. She was also an active lifetime member of the Arkansas Association of the Deaf.

Born April 7, 1933, Carolyn was predeceased by her parents; two brothers; two sisters; and her husband of 48 years.

She is survived by her sons, Victor Bulloch III (Carol), and Gary Bulloch (Sheila), of Little Rock; daughter, Cheryl Spurr (David), of Bryant, with whom she lived the last 20 years; grandchildren, Victor Bulloch IV, Wesley Bulloch, Tyler Bulloch, Cole Bulloch, Christopher Bulloch, Justin Bulloch, Dylan Bulloch, Alex Spurr, Brandon Spurr, Melanie Mabry and Shannon Spurr; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at the Pinecrest Funeral Home on Friday, Jan. 21, at 11 a.m., followed by a service at 12p.m. and interment at Forest Hills Cemetery at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church Fellowship for the Deaf (https://antiochmbc.org/online-giving). Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.pinecrestfh.com for the Bulloch family.
