Jasper, 1912: “Showing Jasper, the river flows between the town and the field in the distance. Do you know anyone interested in Ark lands?” The river mentioned was the Little Buffalo. At the time the Newton County seat would have been very remote and difficult to reach on rough wagon roads, the town never being served by a railroad.
