■ Jill Biden is helping National Geographic promote its forthcoming documentary series on U.S. national parks. The first lady introduces each installment of “America’s National Parks,” a five-part series scheduled for broadcast on consecutive nights beginning Aug. 29. She introduces the series from the Grand Canyon and encourages people to visit. “America’s national parks are full of unrivaled beauty, geological wonders, cultural history and amazing wildlife,” she says in a video clip released this week. “Each national park connects people to a piece of the American story, who we are and where we came from,” the first lady says. “With more than 400 national park sites, there are so many unique places in our country that are just waiting to be explored.” Country music star Garth Brooks is executive producer and narrator of the series. Episodes feature the landscapes and wildlife inhabitants of Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Big Bend, Badlands and Hawaii Volcanoes national parks. In conjunction with the first lady’s Joining Forces initiative for military and veteran families, National Geographic will air a public service announcement during the series in which Biden reminds service members, veterans and their families of their free admission to all national parks. The series kicks off National Geographic’s new event, America’s National Parks Week.

■ Rapper Fetty Wap has been jailed as prosecutors say he threatened to kill a man during a FaceTime call last year, violating the terms of his pretrial release in a pending federal drug conspiracy case. Wap, whose real name is Willie Maxwell, told the man, “Imma kill you and everybody you with,” and flashed a gun during the Dec. 11 video call about two months after his arrest in the drug case, prosecutors said. U.S. Magistrate Judge Steven Locke revoked Maxwell’s bond and sent him to jail following a hearing Monday. The “Trap Queen” rapper is scheduled to perform in Mobile, Ala., on Aug. 19 and Austin, Texas, on Aug. 27, according to his website. Maxwell was initially arrested in October on charges alleging he participated in a conspiracy to smuggle large amounts of heroin, fentanyl and other drugs into the New York area. He pleaded innocent and was released after posting $500,000 bond secured by property he owns in Georgia.
