Index jumps 16.77, finishes at 810.36
The Arkansas Index, a price-weighted index that tracks the largest public companies based in the state, closed Wednesday at 810.36, up 16.77.
“Equities rose sharply following the release of a July CPI data report below consensus expectations with the S&P 500 Index recapturing 48.5% of the loss from the Jan. 4 high to the June 17 low and closing above the most recent rally high set June 2nd,” said Leon Lants, managing director at Stephens Inc.
The index was developed by Bloomberg News and the Democrat-Gazette with a base value of 100 as of Dec. 30, 1997.
