Hats off to ‘Noises Off’ at Benton’s Royal Theatre

ERIC E. HARRISON Elsewhere in entertainment, events and the arts this weekend:

THEATER ‘Bard@the Bar’

Actors Theatre of Little Rock stages “Bard@the Bar: A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” a modified version of William Shakespeare’s comedy squeezed into 60-75 minutes, 7 p.m. today at The Rail Yard, 1212 E. Sixth St., Little Rock.

The tale remains basically the same: Four young lovers (Dalton Carroll, Britni Padilla-Dumas, Mackenzie Holtzclaw and Reilly Heffer, and who loves whom swaps several times during the play) wander into an enchanted forest and find themselves caught in a war between the Fairy King and Queen (Michael Goodbar and Shaina Tippitt) and the machinations of the mischievous fairy Puck (Georgeann Burbank). Meanwhile, a company of “hard-handed laborers” (including Koty Mansfield, Destaney Duguid and Tyler Wisdom) are in the wood working, ineptly, on a play to present for the forthcoming wedding of the duke.

Admission is free but the theater is encouraging donations of at least $10. Seating is limited, so ticket reservations are encouraged. Visit centralarkansastickets.com. (Tip the performers in cash or through Venmo.) Count Porkula and other Rail Yard food and beverage vendors will be open all evening. For more information, visit actorstheatrelr.org.
