Claude Cheshire

Claude Cheshire, 77, of Sheridan, died Saturday, January 21, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born September 27, 1945, in Pine Bluff, to Claude A. and Sybil Sawyer Cheshire. He was a graduate of Dollarway High School. Following graduation, he served his country honorably in the United States Army in the Vietnam War. After being discharged from the Army, Claude returned to Pine Bluff where he began delivering a mail route. Later, he became a police officer, serving Pine Bluff and White Hall, and later becoming the Chief of Police in Junction City, La. After his retirement, he became a truck driver for FlyAsh.

Claude loved spending time with his kids and grandkids, hunting, fishing, and playing golf, until his health no longer allowed him to do so.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Allen Cheshire.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Cheshire, whom he married December 30, 1977, in Pine Bluff; his sons, Steven Cheshire and wife, Ashley, and Pete Cheshire of Sheridan, and Jeff Cheshire of Monticello; his daughters, Crystal Freeman and husband, Lee, of Rison, and Katrina Cheshire and Rhonda Cesar and husband, Frankie, of Texas. He will also be missed by his grandchildren, Kaela O’Neal, Harley Freeman, Steven Cheshire, Jr., Amanda and Danny Williams, Veronica and Ron Rohan, Hanky and Maleri Serna, Cody and Kailei Cheshire, and Clay and Becca Cheshire, as well as eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at Ralph Robinson and Son. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 26, 2023, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son with Bro. Trey Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Center Campground Cemetery, Prague.

Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project or Arkansas Children’s Hospital.
