On January 16, 2023, MARYE JO CLOTHIER,

of Little Rock, Ark., was lovingly welcomed to heaven. Her radiant smile and incredible sense of humor will be missed by many and will be welcomed in Heaven. Marye Jo was born in Sylvia, Kan., on June 19, 1927. She was the oldest child of Felix and Anita Bousser. She met the love of her life, Gale Clothier, as a 14-year-old freshman in high school and they started dating shortly thereafter. At her first opportunity after graduation, she traveled to Key West, Fla., where she and Gale Clothier were married on November 3, 1945, in a modest ceremony on the beach. Following the war and with the help of the GI Bill, Marye Jo and Gale were able to build a warm and loving home for their four children in Plainview, Texas. During those years, Gale and Marye Jo worked side-by-side in Gale’s Pharmacy providing care to the community and an example of love everlasting to their children and grandchildren. They imparted their love of service and community to their children, all of whom followed in their parents’ footsteps into the pharmacy and medical professions. During their retirement years, they relocated to be nearer their children and grandchildren. They lived for a number of years in Winnsboro, Texas prior to moving to Arkansas. Marye Jo is survived by her son Phillip Clothier and his wife Barbara, daughter Carolyn Wilson and her husband Marcus Wilson, and her youngest son Dr Jeffrey Clothier and his wife Risa. Her late son Dr. Mark Clothier predeceased her. She will also be missed and loved by their 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She and her husband were always strong supporters of education and have chosen to provide one last lesson for medical students through the anatomical gift program at UAMS. The celebration of her life and legacy will occur June 19th, 2023. In lieu of flowers please donate to the University of Arkansas Psychiatric Research Institute.
