KNOCK AT THE CABIN

Jonathan Groff, 37, best known as a music man, ventures to the dark side in this upcoming horror film. Based on the novel The Cabin at the End of the World by Paul G. Tremblay, director M. Night Shyamalan has turned the book into a film about a family of three who is taken hostage by four strangers demanding that they sacrifice one of their own to avert the apocalypse. Here are some facts you may not know about the Tony-nominated actor.

▶ Groff was accepted at Carnegie Mellon University but deferred for a year when he was cast as Rolf in the national tour of The Sound of Music. Afterward, instead of attending college, he moved to NYC to pursue a career in theater.

▶ His One Life to Live role as Henry Mackler was written out after the Virginia Tech tragedy in April 2007, because his storyline was about a school shooting.

▶ He got his first Tony nomination in 2007 for originating the role of Melchior Gabor in the rock musical Spring Awakening. In 2016, he was nominated for his role as King George III in Hamilton.

▶ While filming a performance of "Bohemian Rhapsody" on Glee in 2009, his dance partner cut him with her stilettos, resulting in a 5-inch scar on his bicep.

▶ Groff replaced Hugo Weaving as Agent Smith in The Matrix Resurrections, the fourth film in the franchise.

▶ He grew up among Amish communities in Ronks, Pa., and spent his teenage years driving his Amish neighbors, who were not allowed to drive cars.

▶ Sutton Foster is one of his greatest influences. As an aspiring actor, he would wait at the stage door after her performances to get her autograph.

▶ Groff splits his time be -  tween New York City and Pennsylvania, where he purchased a home next to his father's horse farm.
