CABOT — Mrs. Effie Jean Jones,

90, of Cabot, went to her heavenly home Saturday, March 18, 2023.

She was born Monday, November 21, 1932, in Ashdown, Ark., to the late William Bradford and Willie Berniece Faughtenberry Hinton. Effie Jean was a member of Beech Street First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Thaddeus Irving Jones, and a brother, Billy Joe Hinton.

Effie Jean is survived by her children, Carolan (Dennis) Mahr of Cape Coral, Fla., Amanda (Keith) Watkins of Ward, Ark.; two grandchildren, Joshua (Christina) Watkins, Whitney (David) Reed; four great-grandchildren, Wyatt Watkins, Sawyer Reed, Ellie Watkins, and Tinley Reed; sisters, Ann Cobb of Little Rock, Carol Warren of Bossier City, La.; sister-in-law, Jeannette Hinton of Texarkana; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Jones devoted her life to her husband and two daughters, while pursuing her own career. She was an office manager and full charge bookkeeper. In later years she was blessed with two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren who considered her to be the very best NeNe, her love for them was as great. She was a beautiful seamstress making many of her daughters’ clothes, she enjoyed gardening, and volunteering in her church and in the community. She was instrumental in the early development of the Gateway Farmers Market in Texarkana. Effie Jean was a wonderful cook and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at First Baptist Cabot. Committal service will be 3 p.m., at East Memorial Gardens in Texarkana, Ark. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m., prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Foundations for the Future, c/o 1st Baptist Church, 204 North 3rd Street, Cabot, Ark., 72023.
