JACKSONVILLE 17, CENTRAL ARKANSAS 2 (7)

The University of Central Arkansas pitching staff was hit early and often Saturday at Jacksonville, Fla., as the Dolphins pilled up 17 runs on 14 hits.

The Bears (11-11, 3-2 ASUN) opened the scoring when Drew Sturgeon scored on a throwing error in the top of the first inning.

The Dolphins responded with runs in the bottom half of the inning on an RBI single from Chase Malloy and a home run from Kris Armstrong to take a 2-1 lead.

Jacksonville added six runs in the second thanks to a grand slam by Armstrong. The Dolphins scored four more runs in the fourth inning and five in the fifth to make it 17-1.

UCA scored its second run in the sixth inning with a Mason King solo home run.

Tate Busey took the loss, allowing eight runs in 12/3 innings. He allowed eight of the 13 batters he faced to reach base.
